International Group Leaders
International Group Leaders
International Group Leaders (IGLs) are an essential part of the YES 2010 team. They take care of the students and their wellbeing during the whole seminar as well as during the travel to and from Werbellinsee. IGLs lead the Leaving Home and Going Home Sessions and support the Content and Logistics Teams.
The IGL team consists of around 40 IGLs from around 25 different countries. This team is taking care of more than 400 students.
What does an IGL do?
The role of an IGL starts with accompanying the exchange students from their host country to the YES 2010. During the YES, IGLs are leading the “Leaving Home Session” and “Going Home Session”, supporting the students whenever needed as well as assisting with the workshops. Beside these core tasks of an IGL, the IGLs are also responsible for helping with the Free Time Activities and supporting other teams with certain tasks. This could be watching the cafeterias, guarding the premises at night, supporting the Information Desk or the YES Café.
What students can expect from IGLs
The most important thing that a student can expect from an IGL is to be there for students, to support students that have any kind of questions, need advices or any other kind of help.
Even if a student has no questions, but just need someone to talk to, they can always refer to the IGLs but also those who need one more player in the soccer team during free time. If an IGL is not able to help, she/he will always find the person that can!
The IGL Coordinators
To coordinate this huge team of IGLs, there are two IGL Coordinators – Nicole and Marta – that are there to help the IGLs handling their tasks, support and inform them prior to and during the YES 2010. They will also lead the daily IGL meetings, answer all questions and help IGLs to deal with issues that they need help with.
