Social Media Manager

Create an engaging social media presence, visual materials and content to promote the event

The YES is the biggest international event in YFU, and an educational experience we are proud to have offered to YFU students for almost 40 years now. This, and many other aspects of the YES need to be brought to light through our social media presence before, during and after the event. A lot of invaluable learning experiences happen at the YES each year, and while the media team together captures these moments, it is very important for the Social media manager to translate this into engaging and inspiring social media content that not only attracts our YFU community but inspires potential partners and funders to join forces with us. Therefore, understanding different target audiences and the external promotion and value of the YES is crucial for this role.

In 2026, YFU will celebrate its 75th anniversary, an extraordinary milestone that broadly coincides with the creation of the post-World War II global order. As the YES 2026 takes place during this special anniversary year, it is important that this aspect is reflected in the YES communication channels and media strategy, while also aligning with the overall theme of youth participation, which will be further defined during the first preparatory meeting.

Working closely with the Media team coordinator, you will help promote the YES to participants, volunteers, and other stakeholders through our main communication channels: (Instagram, Facebook, website, newsletter, tiktok…) You will also help YFU Member Organisations to better promote the YES to their students by providing them with engaging content templates and designs. An important part of your tasks is to promote the YES from multiple perspectives, such as the educational and community viewpoints.

During the event you will interact with the YFU community, gather insights from students and volunteers, sharing the most important events that are happening and crafting the story that we tell of the YES 2026.  You should not be afraid of being in front of the camera yourself as well, as you should also interview the students and make sure that the content you film is executed well – which might mean you jumping in on the screen yourself as well!

In addition to the general volunteer requirements at the YES, you should be experienced in (please mention this in the application):

  • Designing aesthetically pleasing materials using tools like Canva or Adobe, Capcut  and YFU branding.

  • Managing or co-managing social media accounts.

  • Working with TikTok or Reels (most of our participants are 16 - 18 years old) - or be willing to start working with them.

  • Supporting the Media Coordinator and the Project Coordinator with the management of the YES website.

In addition, you will preferably have experience with:

  • Updating Squarespace, WordPress, Wix, or similar websites.

  • Creative writing, journalism, and video editing.

  • Adobe Indesign, Illustrator or Photoshop.

If you want to bring the YES into the spotlight of the YFU Network, this is the role for you!
