Freestylers
Keep the YES running efficiently by solving challenges on the spot and by supporting other teams where necessary
Freestylers are the engine oil in the machine that is the YES Logistics Team! We need volunteers to fly around and make sure all daily events and routines go as planned. Sounds fun? Then read on, because it might be the role for you.
In a few words, Freestylers are helping out wherever needed and ensure the safety of our participants.
About your role
Freestylers have a wide range of tasks: they prepare the premises before the students arrive, they set up the decorations and help dismantle the site at the end. They are responsible for the infodesk, night watches, cafeteria duty, and help out during the plenary sessions, or in preparation of track sessions. As a freestyler you might also support free time activities, the YES Lounge team or the cafeteria staff during peak hours. Furthermore, freestylers support the travel team on arrival and departure days at the Berlin train station and airport. All this happens in shifts, so no one gets overworked. If you are an active person that likes the logistics behind the biggest YFU event and have no problem working in a hectic environment, then this is the role for you.
Your tasks
In addition to the general volunteer requirements at the YES, you should be:
responsible and reliable;
able and willing to work both day and night shifts;
able to ensure a good work-rest balance during the seminar (schedule will be made to help with this);
committed to working intensely (and sometimes in a stressful environment) together with a group of volunteers;
flexible and willing to take on tasks at the last minute if needed;
able to commit to joining us for 2 online preparatory meetings before the YES, where you will receive any relevant information, get to know the team and get an overview of the role;
excited to be the buffer and safety net for all other volunteers. If they have a problem, they know they can count on you;
prepared to walk a lot :)
